The San José Museum of Art Announces New Season of Public Programs

    The San José Museum of Art (SJMA) presents a new season of public programs for the months of April, May, and June 2023. Highlights include the return of Creative Minds—the Museum’s popular artist talk series with Kelly Akashi and Sadie Barnette; and the launch of Art 101: {art}ificial, a new three-workshop limited series utilizing new tools to create artificial intelligence (AI) generative art led by studio arts educator Julian Zamora.

    PROGRAMMING 

    April 

    First Friday: Ensemble for Non-Linear Time 
    Friday, April 7, 2023; 6–9pm; Free admission. 

    Enjoy a performance by Ensemble for Non-Linear Time, a social practice project by choreographer Hope Mohr and visual artist Ranu Mukherjee.

    Art 101: Sustainable Art Through 3-D Printing–SOLD OUT
    Saturday, April 8, 2023; 12–2pm; free, registration is required. 

    Join us for an introductory workshop exploring sustainable design and contemporary art through 3-D printing, led by UK-based artist Michael Eden and SJSU associate professor of design Yoon Chung Han.

    Worlds Without Boundaries: A Conversation with Sky Hopinka and Betasamosake Simpson  
    Wednesday, April 12, 2023; 6pm; free, offsite at UC Santa Cruz’s Institute of the Arts and Sciences at 100 Panetta Ave, Santa Cruz, CA. 

    The Institute of the Arts and Sciences, UC Santa Cruz, hosts a public conversation between Sky Hopinka (Ho-Chunk Nation/Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians) and Michi Saagiig Nishnaabeg scholar Leanne Betasamosake Simpson.

    Film Screening: Cousin Collective
