Cruise down to the Museum for a special First Friday with the United Lowrider Council of San José (ULCSJ) featuring the Dueñas Bike Club and music by DJ Eruvey Meneses. Youth bike artists will display three original, customized lowrider bikes, inspired by lowrider car design and local culture.
The evening also includes a special reception announcing the winners of the Dr. Jerry Hiura Next Gen Visual Artist Award, a scholarship that celebrates young visionary artists and supports their artistic practice and goals as they pursue higher education.
In addition to open galleries, this First Friday will also offer the opportunity for family-friendly, hands-on artmaking fun with SJMA’s team of volunteer educators from Let's Look at Art.
Art lovers at these free monthly programs enjoy a lounge-like atmosphere with music, drinks, and open galleries.
