Planned Giving

Making a gift through your estate

SJMA appreciates the generosity of friends and community members who have provided legacies to SJMA. Those who have included the Museum in their estate planning become members of our Founders’ Society, named for the many individuals that led a community-based effort to found the Museum in 1969. Members of the Founders’ Society receive recognition in the Museum and invitations to special programs throughout the year.

Planning an estate is a highly personal and technical endeavor and should be undertaken with professional counsel. Some common vehicles of estate giving include bequests of cash or other assets, trusts, life insurance policies, or retirement plans. When planning a gift, please note that the legal name of the Museum is as follows:

San José Museum of Art Association

The San José Museum of Art Association is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Please consult with an accountant, attorney, tax advisor, or estate planner to maximize the tax advantages of your gift.
