San José Museum of Art Membership

Members are admitted free year-round and provide financial support that helps SJMA keep admission accessible to everyone. How can you become a member?

Free admission after 6pm on First Fridays

After 6pm on the first Friday of every month, everyone receives free admission. 

Free Admission

Individual admission is always free for youth 17 and under, college students, and teachers with valid ID. 

Bank of America members on the first full weekend of every month

Bank of America Museums on Us

Visitors who present an active Bank of America®, Merrill® (formerly Merrill Lynch®) or Bank of America Private Bank® (formerly U.S. Trust®) branded debit or credit card—physical or electronic/digital card—and a valid photo IDreceive one free general admission to the Museum on the first full weekend of each month, as part of their Museums on Us program. 
 
Cardholder is required to present their ticket, active credit or debit card and photo ID upon arrival. Additional guests are required to purchase tickets separately.

SJMA is one of hundreds of museums nationwide to offer free admission to active military personnel from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. It is available to active-duty military and their immediate family members (military ID holder and five immediate family members). Active duty military include Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and active duty National Guard and active duty Reserve members.

Discover & Go

Visit your local library. Discover & Go provides free museum admission to library cardholders at many libraries throughout San José and the Bay Area. To see if your library participates, and to request a free pass for up to four people to SJMA, visit discoverandgo.org.

Free admission to American Alliance of Museums members (ally, individual, industry, and museum). Must provide current membership card and valid ID.

Smithsonian Museum Day

Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day

Smithsonian magazine’s annual event provides one free ticket to participating museums on Smithsonian Museum Day usually scheduled in September. This program is on pause this year.
