Juneteenth in the Park Festival

For this year’s Juneteenth Festival, which commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement, SJMA will be offering free admission to festival attendees upon presentation of their festival ticket and email sign-up.

Play On Words: New Terrains

Join San José’s premiere literary performance arts series to watch professional actors perform original fiction, nonfiction, theater and poetry by 15 Bay Area writers. This unique show includes storytelling from Iran, Ireland, South Korea, India, México, Serbia, China, and the United States.

Facebook First Fridays

Enjoy the launch of Facebook First Fridays, a late night offering free admission to all exhibitions and programs from 5–10pm. Featuring music by DJ Wooshay (6–10pm), a cash bar, and a photo booth.​

Make Music San Jose

Make Music San Jose is a free, day of music held on the summer solstice with performances and music-making events happening citywide from sunrise to sunset. SJMA is participating by hosting two performers.​

Chamber Music Silicon Valley presents Common Sounds

Chamber Music Silicon Valley launches its new ensemble-in-residence, Common Sounds. A Knight Foundation supported project, Common Sounds is a dynamic group of renowned musicians from across the globe. As a fusion between Western classical/contemporary and world music, Common Sounds brings authenticity with a fresh and young perspective. It is an investment in the future of music and utilizes this universal language as a tool of acceptance and understanding.

Alta: Flute Music from Mexican Composers in California

Wilfirdo Terraza, flutist, will play works by Carmina Escobar, Guillermo Galindo, Ivan Naranjo, Mauricio Rodriguez, Pable Rubio-Vargas, and Wilfrido Terrazas in a roving performance throughout the Museum. The program is presented by Consulado General de México en San José. Free with Museum admission.
