Make Music San Jose is a free, day of music held on the summer solstice with performances and music-making events happening citywide from sunrise to sunset. SJMA is participating by hosting two performers.
Chamber Music Silicon Valley launches its new ensemble-in-residence, Common Sounds. A Knight Foundation supported project, Common Sounds is a dynamic group of renowned musicians from across the globe. As a fusion between Western classical/contemporary and world music, Common Sounds brings authenticity with a fresh and young perspective. It is an investment in the future of music and utilizes this universal language as a tool of acceptance and understanding.
Wilfirdo Terraza, flutist, will play works by Carmina Escobar, Guillermo Galindo, Ivan Naranjo, Mauricio Rodriguez, Pable Rubio-Vargas, and Wilfrido Terrazas in a roving performance throughout the Museum. The program is presented by Consulado General de México en San José. Free with Museum admission.
