Ca Dao

Journey | Poetry | Life
A poetry workshop

Poetry is not just a part of Vietnamese culture, it is an important part of everyday life. For generations, ca dao, or folk poetry, has been transformed into lullabies and sung by mothers to their children.

In conjunction with Hidden Heritages: San José’s Vietnamese Legacy we invite you to join Chopsticks Alley and the San José Museum of Art for this fun one-hour workshop with instruction by Poet Chinh Nguyen of Văn Thơ Lạc Việt and led by Poet An Bùi. You will listen to traditional Vietnamese poetry songs and learn how to tell your story through your own poetry.

Hidden Heritages: San José’s Vietnamese Legacy is a two-year partnership between the San José Museum of Art, Chopsticks Alley, and the City of San José Office of Cultural Affairs that brings Vietnamese artists and community members together to share, amplify, and artistically present stories of the contributions of Vietnamese Americans to San Jose, one of California’s most diverse cities.
