    —Milton Rogovin

Over a thirty-year span, Rogovin photographed the six-block Lower West Side neighborhood of Buffalo near his optometry office. Unique to this series is the long-term dedication to the individuals he photographed. He recorded the same people as they celebrated their first birthdays, then graduation, followed by their weddings and the baptisms of their children. Photographing people on a stoop, in the grocery store, and in their home, Rogovin captured the changes in the neighborhood and created a portrait of a community struggling over the years.
