Q: What are the Health + Safety safety measures?
A: Thank you for helping us make Kids Summer Art Camp enjoyable and safe for all! If a camper has any symptoms of illness including, but not limited to: fever, sore throat, coughing, congestion, upset stomach, headache, please keep your camper at home. If a camper shows symptoms of illness during camp, the parent/caregiver will be notified to pick up their camper. We ask that parent/caregiver let us know about any special accommodations for their camper such as wheelchairs, food or environmental allergies, medical conditions, etc.

A: We've got you covered! We've carefully selected art supplies for each age group, and all supplies and materials are included in the fee for camp registration!

Q: What is the schedule for summer camp?
A: Information about the current Kids Art Camp schedule is located on the camp webpage sjmusart.org/kids-summer-art-camp. A more detailed daily schedule will be provided one week prior to your camp start date.

Q: How do I prepare for the first day of camp?
A: The week prior to your campers' registered week of camp, you will receive a 'welcome' email with helpful information including first day of camp orientation, drop-off and pick-up policies, camp schedule, participant expectations, and camper exhibition information. Please be sure to check the email that you registered your camper with for this 'welcome' email (including your spam folder.)

Q: Can I register for multiple weeks?
A: If your camper is age 6–8 or 9–11 we ask that parents refrain from enrolling in more than one week of camp. Our curriculum for each of these age groups will remain the same the entire summer.

Each week of teen camp (ages 12–14) highlights a specialized deep dive into a variety of creative media and concepts. Visit sjmusart.org/kids-summer-art-camp for more information.

A: Scholarship Applications for Kids Summer Art Camp 2024 will open Thursday, February 8.

Yes! We have scholarships available! If your 6–14 year old camper attends a Title I school, resides within the San José city limits, and has financial need, please complete a scholarship application. Scholarships include camp tuition, all art supplies, and a camp t-shirt! Please note: Scholarships are limited, and spots fill quickly. Please email us at education@sjmusart.org for more information.

Q: What kind of art projects will campers be working on?
A:  SJMA gallery teachers and studio art educators will engage campers in art lessons and collaborative, interactive tutorials that will keep kids active, social, and challenged with a variety of teaching styles in drawing, painting, mixed media, and found object/recycled household items as our starting point for art-making. Our enhanced format includes STEAM-based (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) projects created by an industry-leading engineering educator. Participants will benefit from presentations led by Museum professionals and guest artists, interactive demonstrations, and Q+A sessions, plus curate and exhibit their own artwork in our weekly Art Camp exhibition and reception.

Q: My child is a very mature 5-year-old, can I register them in camp? or Can I register my child in a camp that is above or below their age?
A: No. Age groups are specifically selected for a range of developmental stages. Projects and themes are tailored to fit the needs of each group and we cannot accommodate changes to this structure. Children enrolled in the wrong age group may be removed from camp if space is not available in the appropriate age group.
