About Walk with a Naturalist
The “Walk with a Naturalist” family tour will feature an observation-based, scientific exploration of Young Bay Mud with tactile experiences offered by Shelby Hendricks, group tour and family programs manager. Guests will be guided through the exhibition using VTS-based inquiries of the artwork on display to help conceptualize the artists’ vision of shifting the relationship between humans and the ground beneath our feet. By considering human ecological entanglement and learning more about the natural history and geology of the Bay Area, guests will discover ways to connect and care about the deceptively complex nature of mud and its unique impact on our local Bay Area environment.
This cross-disciplinary tour offers an opportunity for visitors to connect with artworks in non-traditional ways that both humanize the sciences and reinforce the emotional impact of caring for our Bay Area environment.
