Sweet Inspiration
As a way to explore the basic elements of art—line, shape, color, light, and texture—Wayne Thiebaud paints bakery confections. The triangle wedges of cakes and pies, the spherical structure of candy apples and donuts, the creamy texture of icing, and the myriad colors required to re-create “white” frosting all present him with formal challenges.
Enjoy drawing your own sweet treat still life. Although surprisingly realistic, these pastries are made from nonedible materials.
