Jay DeFeo was a pivotal figure in the historic San Francisco community of creatives of the Beat era generation. The San Francisco Renaissance encompassed the widely-known Beat Generation poets and writers as well as an eclectic array of artists such as DeFeo, musicians, dancers, and filmmakers who challenged tradition, shattered convention, and made the Bay Area a haven for creatives and non-conformists of all kinds. Join Jerry Cimino, Founder and Director of the Beat Museum in San Francisco to learn more about this pivotal time in our local history.
