Community Day: Lunar New Year

Join SJMA in welcoming the year of the Tiger with virtual artmaking activities, cultural demonstrations, and live performances. This contemporary celebration honors Lunar New Year traditions commemorated both around the globe and here in San José. Explore and create with family and friends during this multigenerational program.

Schedule of Onsite Events

  • 11am–4pm: Art activity kit available for pick-up
  • 12pm: Video tutorials featuring Chopsticks Alley Art
  • 2:30pm: Performance by KCC Urisawe at Plaza de Cesar Chavez
  • 3:30pm: Performance by Rising Phoenix Lion Dance Association at Plaza de Cesar Chavez

Beginning Friday, February 4, 2022, SJMA will require proof of full vaccination and booster shot (if eligible) for all visitors—5 years and older, or proof of a negative test from a medical provider or laboratory within 72 hours of visiting the Museum. Please be prepared to show your COVID-19 vaccination card (physical or digital copy), California’s digital vaccination QR code, or proof of negative test with a valid ID.
