About the Instructors

Sally Ashton is a writer, teacher, and editor of DMQ Review, an online journal featuring poetry and art. Author of four books, her fifth collection, Listening to Mars, is forthcoming, 2024, with Cornerstone Press. She served as the second Poet Laureate of Santa Clara County, 2011-2013. Her work has appeared in numerous journals and anthologies and is headed to the Moon in 2024. Learn more about Ashton at sallyashton.com.

Julian Zamora (they/them) is a multimedia artist born and raised in San José, CA. They have worked in art and science education for over 7 years across the bay area. As a dedicated community artist, Julian’s goal is to create art experiences that impact the community and give them a safe space to express themselves. One of Julian’s favorite artists is Keith Haring because of the bright and bold colors he uses in his artwork which they try to incorporate into everything they create.
