Art 101: Clay Exploration Workshop with Higher Fire

Sunday, November 17, 2019
1–4pm
$150 ($125 for SJMA members)

Come experiment in this clay workshop inspired by artist Woody De Othello’s ceramic sculptures. Participants will be introduced to the potter’s wheel and learn hand-building techniques. We’ll pinch and extrude clay to create unique forms such as vases, tea-light candle holders, and birdhouses. Participants will also make one pot on the potter’s wheel. All creations will be glazed and fired with colors selected by the participant after the workshop; items will be ready for pickup in approximately three weeks.

Advance registration recommended. This ART 101 welcomes participants ages 13 and up and takes place at an offsite partner location. Workshop fee includes admission to the Museum on November 17, art instruction, use of tools, and all materials.
