In collaboration with City Lights Theater Company's The Next Stage, we’re taking a closer look at Hank Willis Thomas’ Bars (2017), from the exhibition Barring Freedom. Led by San José Museum of Art’s Senior Studio Artist Emilio Banuelos, join us for a discussion on the piece followed by an art project in a virtual open studio space.

Emilio Banuelos has been teaching photography within the San Francisco Bay Area since 2002. He earned his degree in 2000 from the Missouri School of Journalism. He has since worked as a photographer and consultant for publications in Illinois, Hawaii, and California. He is co-founder of Black Boots Ink, which conducts national and international projects to foster introductions of individual artists, and to collaborate on the creation of exhibitions and publications about the rituals of life in the pursuit of happiness.
