About

Destiny Muhammad has curated the Grace Cathedral Christmas Concert Series and organized SFJAZZ’s tribute to jazz harp legend Alice Coltrane, and appeared as a featured guest for Kanye West’s Sunday Service during the San Francisco Symphony’s SoundBox series. She has shared the stage with jazz masters Denise Perrier and Omar Sosa, and Blue Note artist Ambrose Akinmusire, and has headlined the Healdsburg Jazz Festival, where she served as its 2023 Black History Month Artist in Residence.

Muhammad is a Governor of the Recording Academy, an ASCAP Songwriter Awardee, an SFJAZZ Teaching Artist, and a Bay Area Jazz and Blues Award winner. She’s also a California Arts Council Legacy Fellow, and continues to serve as harp ambassador for the Awesome Orchestra Collective and a collaborator with the Santa Cruz Symphony and Marcus Shelby’s New Orchestra.

Whether leading her own band or guesting with an orchestra, Muhammad brings the same gift for turning the harp into a vehicle for story, spirit, and jazz history in one sitting.
