SJMA Raises $325k at “Full Spectrum” Gala

SAN JOSE, California (October 24, 2012)—The San Jose Museum of Art’s fundraising gala “Full Spectrum 2012” raised over $325,000 (gross) on Saturday, October 13. 200 supporters attended the sold-out event, which included a live auction, dinner, and colorful surprises such as body-painted models representing works in the Museum’s collection created by Trina Merry and the ART ALIVE Gallery. All proceeds benefit exhibitions educational programs at the Museum, which is the largest provider of arts education in Santa Clara County and serves more than 37,000 schoolchildren each year. 

The highlight of the evening was the live auction. The night’s top lot was the “Fund-a-Need” auction, for which 71 donors contributed amounts from $100 to $10,000 for a total of $60,300 that will directly support educational programs.

The event was made possible by the Full Spectrum 2012 chair, Bess Wiersema-Hilliard of Los Gatos, and auction committee members Tad Freese of Pleasanton, Wanda Kownacki of Los Gatos; Peter W. Lipman of Portola Valley; Mary Mocas of Los Altos Hills; Carol Parker of Los Gatos; and David Soward of San Francisco. 

Yvonne and Mike Nevens of Los Altos Hills were Platinum Sponsors of the event.
