SJMA to Offer Figure Drawing Class for Beginners and Advanced on November 4

Release date

SAN JOSE, California (October 16, 2012)—The San Jose Museum of Art will offer two figure-drawing workshops on Sunday, November 4, 2012. Artist and teacher Robert Regis Dvorak will lead DIY Art: Figure Drawing. Participants will have the opportunity to draw from nude models in a professional and comfortable setting. The morning session from 11 AM to 1 PM will be for beginners. The afternoon session from 2 to 4 PM is for more advanced artists. Registration for each session is $30 ($25 for members). Participants may enroll in both sessions ($60 or $50 for members). All materials will be provided. The program is available for adults ages 18 and older only. Registration is online at LiveSV.com/SJMA.

The DIY Art program is offered in connection with the exhibition Dive Deep: Eric Fischl and the Process of Painting, on view October 27-May 13. Fischl’s fluid depictions of the human body are the result of careful study. Dvorak, author of Drawing without Fear and other books, will help participants sharpen their own observation skills.
