SJMA and Mosaic Silicon Valley to Present "Lost and Found" October 19

Release date

SAN JOSÉ, California (Updated: October 5, 2017) — The San José Museum of Art will host Third Thursday: “Lost and Found: Forging a Future from Fragments,” inspired by Louise Nevelson, on October 19, 2017, from 7 – 10 PM. The evening will be a continuation of the series, “Mosaic Silicon Valley,” an initiative of Sangam Arts that explores the ties that bind diverse cultures together. The event will feature site-specific performances by Giulio Cesare Perrone, internationally renowned theatre artist, and Fong Tran, spoken word poet and social justice activist. Admission is $5 after 5 PM and free from Museum members. Tickets are available online at http://sjmusart.org/event/third-thursday-mosaic-silicon-valley.

Giulio Cesare Perrone will direct performers for a 20 minute excerpt of “Fragments from Quantum Love,” a trilogy in progress that explores perspectives in the context of new territories of science, quantum theory, and intimate relationships and connection with the universe. The performance takes on how found discarded objects pieced together can create new meaning through creativity -- a metaphor for rethinking relationships and the cosmos.  Giulio Cesare Perrone has over 200 theatre and opera productions under his belt and is the recipient of a 2000 Pew National Artists Residency grant with Dell’Arte International for his adaption of Milton’s Paradise Lost. He currently serves as the artistic director of Inferno Theatre.

Fong Tran will perform 30 minutes of spoken word poetry in two sessions. Fong Tran has performed for more than 100 events and was featured at the Mahogany Open Poetry Series, UC Davis SickSpits, Sacramento Poetry Center, and the Diasporic Vietnamese Artists Network (DVAN) Poetry Festival. Fong Tran currently serves as director of student activities and campus life at College of Alameda.
