Make a Lasting Impact Today

Thank you for the essential support you have provided to the San José Museum of Art (SJMA) through your contributions and participation as a community member over the years. Your forward-looking generosity has fueled our mission, connecting thousands of people in our region to compelling art, fresh ideas, and educational resources vital to sustaining a vibrant community.

My name is Jeremiah Matthew Davis, SJMA’s new Oshman Director and CEO. Since joining the Museum this fall, I’ve been overwhelmed by the warm welcome from community members like you. It’s an honor to lead this beloved 54-year-old institution into its next chapter. With the new year in sight, SJMA is forging ahead guided by our 2023-2027 strategic plan and our enduring belief in the power of radical imagination and the role art can play in bringing communities and people together for the benefit of all.

As last year’s inaugural Visionary Award Winner, Trustee, and leadership supporter Glenda Dorchak said, “SJMA is more than a great art museum, it’s a community, a creativity accelerator, and a welcoming space for learning and the exploration of ideas. Last year alone our educational programs reached over 26,000 students in Santa Clara County, and many of our thousands of visitors were able to visit for free thanks to our generous donors. This impact is what drives us to support SJMA year over year to ensure San José and Silicon Valley benefits from this world-class cultural gem for decades to come.”

If you’ve visited SJMA during the past year, you’ve experienced the programming that inspires Glenda. New initiatives like Tending and Dreaming: Stories from the Collection, our first dedicated collection galleries, opened on March 7, 2025. The works in these galleries, some installed for the first time, tell the stories of our community from multiple points of view. In 2026, new selections of works will be rotated into Tending and Dreaming. We cannot wait to share more of San José’s only publicly held art museum collection with you. By experiencing the new collection galleries, you become a part of these stories and conversations. We hope you’ll join us.

The work SJMA does is propelled, in large part, by your continued support and belief in the importance of having a leading art museum in the heart of Silicon Valley. This year I invite you to be part of a special year-end matching gift challenge that will raise critical resources for the Museum’s operations. Will you join us to maximize the impact of this matching challenge by making a one-time gift today?

With your help, SJMA will remain an indispensable cultural and educational resource with an unshakeable commitment to making contemporary art accessible for thousands each year. Thank you for considering this request and I hope to see you at SJMA in 2026!
