About Juan Prada Trio
This distinctive ensemble weaves son, danzón, cha-cha-chá, tango, candombem, and Afro-Cuban rhythms with jazz improvisation and contemporary techniques. Their innovative approach earned them the prestigious Jazzología recognition in 2006 for valuable contributions to jazz from Argentina’s Ministry of Culture, alongside being named finalists in Spain’s Granada International Jazz Performers Competition that same year.
Since its inception in 1998, the Juan Prada Trio has graced numerous jazz festivals and prestigious venues across Uruguay, Argentina, Germany, Brazil and the United States. Their musical journey is documented in two acclaimed albums: their self-titled debut in 2005 and Plegarias in 2012, both showcasing Prada’s masterful compositions and the trio’s unique sonic identity.
