Join former Creative Ambassador Deborah Kennedy for the Earth Day Broadside and Poetry Project. Create a broadside, or what we would call a poster today, featuring your own environmentally focused art and poems! Broadsides are single sheets of paper, usually large, printed on one side with text and artwork. They have been used to share information publicly since the invention of the printing press, contemporarily taking the form of posters. Early on, they featured artwork, ballads, commentary, and announcements of every kind. Broadsides were tacked to trees, walls, and doors, turning them into platforms for sharing information and viewpoints, not unlike today’s social media sites.

Using vivid inks and short poems, we will create our own posters. We will be using well-honed techniques to create compelling work. Beginning to advanced artists and poets are all welcome. Add your voice to the creativity in our San José community in a fun and playful environment.
