Step into the world of Kambui Olujimi: North Star, where body and movement take center stage, capturing these of weightlessness and freedom. In this hands-on, introductory workshop, you'll learn the technique of rotoscope animation, the process of creating animated sequences by tracing over live-action footage frame by frame. Drawing inspiration from Olujimi's Death Drop Loop (2024), you'll create your own unique animation that reflects your individuality. About the Instructor

After graduating with her B.F.A. in animation from the California College of the Arts in San Francisco, Emma Brand moved towards educating children in art! Born and raised in San José, she has been going to the San José Museum of Art since elementary school, and the Museum’s focus on modern and contemporary art has helped her branch out creatively. Emma continues to independently animate, exploring different mediums and creating experimental pieces. Her art mainly focuses on cats, plants, and fantastical, sometimes creepy, creatures that solely exist in the realms of imagination. Emma is always looking for ways to expand her portfolio while learning new and interesting methods of creation. Emma’s goal as a teacher is to fuel children’s passion for creativity, while helping them achieve their artistic goals.
