Artist Karla Diaz, whose work is on view in the special exhibition Around the Table: food, creativity, community, will stage her ongoing performance, Prison Gourmet. Diaz creates meals based on recipes written by prisoners in California’s state prisons. These recipes use only ingredients available in the prison commissaries: they reveal both the creativity of the prisoners and the poor nutritional value of the food they are offered for purchase.
