Variations on a Theme (2009-2010)

Cisco Jiménez began his career as a political cartoonist in the Mexican press before going on to study art in Mexico and at the Art Students League of New York. Most of Jiménez's work speaks of sexual aggression and fear. The title of this work loosely translates to "If only they did a lot of stupid shit to you when you were young, can you join our club." He has described himself as a social critic, a kind of postmodern José Pasada. "I think that a good artist and a smart artist should consider the good things that he can do or he can express. Talent is only half of it. There is another part, a dark side, an awareness of anxieties and bsessions."
