Biography

Ranu Mukherjee was born in 1966 in Boston and currently lives and works in San Francisco.  Mukherjee received her BFA in Painting and Film from the Massachusetts College of Art, Boston, in 1988 and her MFA from the Royal College of Art, London, in 1993. She cofounded orphan drift, and worked solely with the artist collaborative from 1994 to 2005. Her work has been featured in many exhibitions including at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco; the Hayward Gallery, London; and the Tate Modern, London. She is currently an associate professor in Graduate Fine Art at the California College of the Arts and a visiting professor at the San Francisco Art Institute.
