Biography

Born in New York City, Nanao received her B.F.A. at the San Francisco Art Institute in 1962 where she studied under Nathan Oliveira, James Weeks and Frank Lobdell. Her figurative paintings, watercolors and monotypes consistently portray a solitary nude in an indistinguishable setting, revealing their indebtedness to Oliveira’s compositional style.
