                | The Uncle Phone is a fully functional modified telephone. Artistic duo Soren Pors and Aparna Rao commented on a personal anecdote that inspired its creation. Rao’s uncle frequently asked other family members to dial the phone for him. Pors and Rao reimagined the telephone as an object that requires two people to operate—one cannot dial and hold the receiver at the same time. On one level a private joke, The Uncle Phone also calls to mind the compromise, hilarity, and frustration inherent in familial relationships and the connection between product design and human behavior. |
