In Wet Garbage Only, Anjum Singh grappled with issues of urban waste and disorder. A tiny garbage dumpster hovers above a towering mound of potatoes and a banana peel. While portraying a futile attempt to create purity in an overwhelmingly polluted environment, Singh explored a wealth of overlapping earth-toned colors and patterns in the painting’s large areas of abstraction.
