| In the late 1940s and early 1950s, Jehangir Sabavala studied in Paris, where he was introduced to Cubism and the work of Paul Cézanne. Sabavala subsequently experimented with shafts and wedges in his compositions. In this painting, overlapping winged forms recede into the background and suggest an illusory depth. |
