Showcase of Silicon Valley Arts Groups at SJMA September 21

SAN JOSÉ, California (September 13, 2017) — The San José Museum of Art will host Third Thursday: Silicon Valley Arts Showcase, an evening of presentations and performances from cultural organizations in the Silicon Valley, on Thursday, September 21, 2017, from 5 – 9 PM. Eleven organizations will highlight their fall seasons in fast-paced slide presentations or performances.Presentations begin at 6 PM. Admission is $5 after 5 PM (free for Museum members) and includes admission to the new exhibitions This Is Not a Selfie: Photographic Self-Portraits from the Audrey and Sydney Irmas Collection and Louise Nevelson: The Fourth Dimension. Cultural organizations on the program include:

Art Ark Gallery, presentation by Genevieve Hastings, director;

City Lights Theater Company, presentation “Coming Soon on the City Lights Stage” by Rebecca Wallace, marketing director;

Children’s Discovery Museum of San José, presentation by Jessica Torres, associate director of education;

Montalvo Arts Center, presentation by Donna Conwell, curator.

San José Chamber Orchestra,  presentation and performance “Chamber Orchestra Re-Imagined,” with Barbara Lymberis and Phillip Brezina, violinist.

Teatro Visión, presentation by Jacqueline Gamboa, community outreach coordinator.

The New Ballet, season preview by Dalia Rawson, director and choreographer, and dancers performing excerpts from “The San Jose Nutcracker,” “Fast Forward,” and “Sleeping Beauty;

San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles, presentation “What’s New at the Museum!” by Nancy Bravor, executive director and Amy DiPlacido curator of exhibitions.

The Tech Museum of Innovation. presentation of their upcoming exhibition Inside Ourselves: an Intersection of Art and Anatomy with Lisa Incataciato, exhibit content developer;

Works/San José, presentation of “Works: 40 years of Community Art and Performance” with Joe Miller, president, board of directors; and

ZERO1, presentation of  “American Arts Incubator Success Stories and Local Expansion.”

 

SAN JOSÉ MUSEUM OF ART

The San José Museum of Art celebrates new ideas, stimulates creativity, and inspires connection with every visit.
