Are you enthusiastic about modern and contemporary art? Become a San Jose Museum of Art docent. SJMA volunteer docents guide museum visitors on tours of the exhibitions and engage them in focused gallery discussions. An art background is not required; a passion for lifelong learning is.

The 5-month-long new docent training class begins January 10, 2012. The classes are held at the Museum on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The program will includes seminars on the history of contemporary art, learning theories, art interpretation strategies, and touring techniques, as well as selected readings, in-gallery training, and tour observations.
