Lunchtime Lecture: Timelapse: Doug Hall and the Western Landscape

12–1 PMFree with Museum admission

Meet the artist and learn the behind-the-scenes story of SJMA’s most important recent acquisition. In his video homage to the Golden Gate Bridge and in his photographs of attractions throughout the American West, Doug Hall focuses on our experience of time, a most abstract concept. He explores time in two ways, as representational and as phenomenological. In this Lunchtime Lecture, Hall will delve into the idea of time as it appears in his images. He will discuss what happens—in our bodies, minds, and imaginations— when we intersect with images within the temporal space of the gallery. After a 30-minute talk in the Wendel Education Center, Hall will lead visitors to the gallery for a special walk-through of the exhibition Timelapse: Doug Hall and the Western Landscape.

Lunchtime Lectures take place on the first Wednesday of the month at noon in the Charlotte Wendel Education Center. Visitors are welcome to bring food and beverages.
