Let's Look at Art

Requests are closed for Let's Look at Art and Art in the Dark for the remainder of the 2019–2020 school year.

Let's Look at Art presentations occur throughout the school year, September – May, and lead to exciting processes of discovery for students in Santa Clara County. Using Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) that support the Common Core State Standards, a trained docent leads a FREE 30- to 50-minute art presentation in your classroom. All art reproductions brought into the classroom are carefully researched and presented with a specific set of curriculum objectives. The artworks also represent the cultural diversity of the Bay Area.

FREE! In your classroom

The docent presents to one class at a time. We bring an educational field trip into your classroom at no cost to you or your students.

The free in-classroom presentations occur throughout the school year, September – May. Due to the high volume of requests, we recommend that you sign up early.

If you would like to have your class come and visit the San José Museum of Art during the school year, you can book a guided school tour here (fee applies)Students can also enjoy a Gallery Tour, with a trained arts education professional, and participate in a hands-on art activity at the museum, we are still accepting reservations for the Two-Part Art program.

If you are a teacher in a Middle or High School and would like a guest presentation at your school, we are still accepting reservations for this school year.  You can find more information on these presentations under Art in the Dark.

We are unable to offer presentations to Transitional Kindergarten classes at this time.
