Community Day: Día de los Muertos

Celebrate El Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) with a full day of live entertainment, cultural demonstrations, and an eclectic mix of art-making experiences.

Decorate calaveras de azúcar (sugar skulls) and engage with your family and community. This festive event combines the traditional with the contemporary for a truly intracultural celebration.

Schedule of events

11am–4:30pm: Art-making stations including decorating your own Calaveras de Azucar (sugar skulls) and Remember Me ofrenda altar frames.

12–3:30pm: Photo-op with roaming skeleton performers.

2:30pm: Traditional Mexican folk dance Performance by Grupo Folkorico Los Laureles

1:30–3:30pm: Ofrenda building demonstration by local artist Phyllis Carrasco.

All-day: See a traditional altar by artist Lissa Jones, Catrina sculptures, and larger-than-life Sugar Skull sculptures.
