Tires, vinyl records, and puzzle pieces are some of the many unconventional materials that Santa-Fe based artist Steven Deo employs for his sculptures and installation art. Composed primarily of old leather shoes, Trailways Baggage was inspired by the artist’s own reliance on bus transportation. The artwork’s title refers not only to a major bus company but also articulates a broader statement about the displacement of Native Americans.
