Lynn Powers gravitates toward profound mysteries of the human mind and psyche. “It is my practice to bear witness to the inner life of intuition and dreams,” Powers described, sparking investigations with her own visual language beyond figuration. The root of her intrigue stems from both Eastern and Western philosophies, an amalgamation of Buddhist cosmology, meditation, and analytical psychologist Carl Jung’s idea of a collective unconscious built upon instinct and archetypes imbued with universal symbols. The visual imprint of Powers’s experimental discoveries of the mystical provokes us to navigate realities that are simultaneously new yet also so eerily familiar.
