City Limits, City Life, (2014-2015)

Lordy Rodriguez manipulates the conventions of map-making to explore an abstract imaginary realm. Internet 2.0 is from his “America” series, in which Rodriguez reconfigured the placement and boundaries of the fifty states and created five additional ones: Internet, Hollywood, Monopoly, Disney, and Territory, complete with the symbols common on road maps. The latter group contains all the regions the United States has occupied. These fictional regions seem oddly familiar. For example, Internet 2.0, for example, portrays a flat plain flanked by the Silicon Ridge—not unlike the actual topography of Silicon Valley.
