A companion piece, Ucello Dreaming, honors Renaissance painter Paolo Ucello, who experimented extensively with linear perspective. Here, Powers uses a surreal variation of a classic column to transform Ucello’s system of two-point perspective into a dreamlike interpretation in three dimensions. The monogram RGT refers to art historian Richard G. Tansey, a close friend of Powers’s.

In Uccello Dreaming (In Memory of Richard G. Tansey), Harry Powers was inspired by Renaissance painter Paolo Uccello, who experimented extensively with linear perspective.
