It's About Time: Celebrating 35 Years (2004-2005)

Often celebrated for his iconic oil paintings of lonely landscapes and quiet cafés, Edward Hopper began his career as a printmaker. This etching of a nocturnal scene, viewed from a window high above an empty street, captures a solitary man walking down an brightly lit sidewalk. Like Hopper’s legendary painting depicting a trio of Nighthawks at a corner diner, this image of momentary solitude poignantly conveys the stillness and mystery of the modern American city in the midnight hours.
