Inside Out: Selections from the Permanent Collection (2004-2006)

M. Louise Stanley’s protagonists are women confronting their own foibles. In this painting, she pokes fun at what she views as the insatiable, and in this case, completely fruitless, curiosity of women about their male love interests. As Stanley put it, “Women want to savor every detail about a man, but it really isn’t all that interesting.”
