Biography

Marc Pally was born in Los Angeles in 1946.  He attended Antioch College, Yellow Springs, Ohio, where he received a B.A. in 1968. In 1978, he received a M.F.A. from the California Institute of the Arts, Valencia, California.  His work is featured in many collections including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; the Oakland Museum of California; the Orange County Museum of Art, California; the Museum of Art, Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and the Portland Museum of Art, Maine.  Pally taught studio art for many years at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, served as the director of LACE (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions) and was city planner for public art at the Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles.  He currently serves as artistic director of “Glow,” a biannual art event on the beach in Santa Monica, California.  He lives in Los Angeles.  (SJMA Collections Committee, 2011)
