Biography

Kristin Lucas, who now lives in New York, was born in 1968. She attended The Copper Union for Advancement in Science and Art, where she earned her BFA in 1994. Lucas has been awarded numerous artist-in-residencies through the Experimental Television Center in Owego, New York; the P.S.1. National Studies Programs, New York; and the World Views residency programs on the 91st Floor of the World Trade Center’s Tower 1 among others. She has also be the recipient of multiple artist awards and grants. Her work has been exhibited at venues throughout the world including the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. These would be the first pieces by Lucas to enter SJMA’s permanent collection. (SJMA, Collections Committee, 2005)
