Biography

Tony Natsoulas was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1959. He attended the University of California, Davis, where he earned his B.A. in 1982 and his M.F.A. in 1985. Natsoulas has studied under Robert Arneson, Roy DeForest, Robert Brady, Manuel Neri, and Wayne Thiebaud. He has also worked closely under David Gilhooly and Clayton Bailey. He has taught at various institutions including Ohio State University in Columbus, California State University in Stanislaus, and the University of California, Davis. His work has been exhibited at venues including the Triton Museum in Santa Clara, the Oakland Museum, and the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento. Natsoulas’ work is included in the collections of the Laguna Art Museum, the Triton Museum, and the Oakland Museum, among others. This would be the first work by Natsoulas to enter SJMA’s permanent collection. (SJSU Collections Committee, 2005)
