Biography

Larry Thomas was born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1943.  He received a B.F.A. from Memphis Academy of Arts in 1966 and an M.F.A. from SFAI in 1979.  Thomas has taught at a number of Bay Area institutions, including Stanford University and SFAI, where he taught Printmaking from 1983 to 1994, and where he is currently the Dean of Academic Affairs.  His work has been presented in solo shows at Susan Cummins Gallery, Mill Valley; Palo Alto Cultural Center; and Reese Bullen Gallery at Humboldt State University, among others, and in group shows nationwide.  Thomas’ work is in the collections of such institutions as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.
