Born in Koloa, Kauai, Hawaii.

He is a retired professor from Foothill College and City College of San Francisco. Currently he is working with several NGO's and programs for the arts, education and advocacy in the third world. He is also an artist in residence at Cubberley Art Studios in Palo Alto, California.
