Biography

Born in Long Beach, California, Laddie John Dill attended Chouinard Art Institute, where he graduated alongside Charles Arnoldi in 1968. By the time he was 28 years old, Dill had his first one-man exhibition at the Sonnabend Gallery in New York. Since then, his work has been shown at the Los Angeles Institute of Contemporary Art, the Laguna Art Museum, and the Milwaukee Museum of Art. His work is included in the collections of the Phoenix Art Museum, the Chicago Art Institute, the Norton Simon Museum, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. This would be the first work by Dill to enter SJMA’s collection. (SJMA Collections Committee, 2003)
